I was Top Tweet on Twitter!

When your tweet gets retweeted several hundred times you feel like a celebrity

Look, my tweet appeared on Twitter's homepage!

Twitter never ceases to amaze me. Today I sign in and see that HATE MALAYSIA is on trending topics. Since I have a connection with the country, I was curious about it and found out that at a soccer match Malaysian fans blinded the Indonesian goal keeper with lasers (source). Seriously, that was pretty lame. Whoever did that, does not understand the spirit of fair play. However the incident, incited by one or few people, started an online war between Malaysians and Indonesians on Twitter and other social networks. I read some tweets, became angry and wrote this:

It was a simple tweet written out of an impulse. I didn't expect much. But then suddenly people started to retweet it, Malaysians, Indonesians, Chinese, Koreans, Japanese, Indians... first 3, then 20, then 62... then over 100. Suddenly I got tons of new followers, people reposted my words few hundred times. I could not believe what was happening. Not only that, so many gave me feedback, most was positive, but some accused me of being racist, a white supremacist or that I don't understand the situation in Asia. Some also asked, if in the West there was no hate. Those were the ones, that would also add something derogatory about USA.

I was RTed by @toptweets. Felt great to see my face up there. Didn't I look cool? :-P

So let me explain my epic tweet. The things I mentioned of course were generalizations, simplifications and a bit exaggerated. But what do you expect from a tweet? What else can I say in 140 signs other than something with a point, something that hits you right in the face?

Those who know me, know how hard I try to understand the reality from multiple sides and how I want to be a bridge between the East and the West, between Asia and Europe. I always try to see things for two sides in every issue. And accusing me of being a racist or white supremacist based on this tweet is hilarious, albeit baseless. My point was to highlight the silly conflicts in Asia, that always make netizens go haywire and attack each other.

Just recently there was an incident in taekwondo, where a Taiwanese athlete was disqualified unfairly by a Korean referee (source) and Taiwanese netizens went berserk, created numerous I hate Koreans groups on Facebook, some even burned Korean flags. How can you hate all people of a country because of one single incident that only involved few people? I understand the anger, but sometimes things go too far. And that was part of the reason I wrote that tweet. If you ask me, there are too many conflicts in Asia (like the one in Korea recently). And we saw how real and deadly it can become. It always starts with words, words of hate. Then incidents follow, the hate grows and suddenly there's no way back and something really bad happens. Be it in Europe or Asia, I'm against all hate. I was always against hating certain groups, just because few people from that group have done something bad.

Luckily most Asian people, who have read my tweet, got the point, that's why it became top. The most important part of my tweet is the question at the end: How about love? My point was to make you think. It's so easy to be angry and say stupid things, because you can switch off your brain and just follow what everybody does. It's harder to pause for a while and ask yourself, if it's really right to hate someone for something very trivial. And that exceeds race and culture, it's sadly a very human flaw.

Let me share some of the interesting responses to my tweet:

It was fun to be celebrity for few hours. Now I know a little what it means to be when people attack celebs or want to be their friend. It's not easy. So many asked me to follow back, but I'm very selective and don't just follow anyone. So hope you guys understand that. But I will always try to reply to someone, if I get @ed.

UPDATE: @Favstar50 has just notified me, that my tweet was favorited 51 times and retweeted 623 times. That's plain crazy :P

We met on @Twitter exactly 1 year ago!

My girlfriend and I met on Twitter last June

The Kissing Rocks, Kenting, Taiwan, where we shared a special moment.

I think @she followed me on Twitter before I followed her. I wasn't as interested in her, because she tweeted a lot in traditional Chinese and even Japanese. But I allowed her following me... Her profile photo was a Japanese actress and her #Twitter bio said she was from Taiwan. So I was a bit confused, is she Chinese or Japanese? I had no idea, but I didn't do anything about it. And so she was following me... Until one day I tweeted following:

@ninnoart Today is raining all day. Guess what? It rained all day yesterday. And you won't be shocked when I say: It will rain tomorrow, too :-(((

This is the first tweet she decided to reply to. She said:

@ninnoart Is your place in raining season now? and another one @ninnoart We have rainy season in Apr., always called "Plum Rain" in meteorology. But this year it rains few n we may get water-lack crisis.

And then I replied and started to follow her back. She added me on Facebook and I saw how beautiful she really was. We tweeted regularly for months, but we were just being friends. Until we fell in love and I decided to go to Taiwan to be with her... and that story you already know well, hehe. So no need to repeat myself here. ;-)

Dear baby! Thank you for all the amazing and precious moments we have shared in the past year, be it as friends or as lovers. They are all stored in my heart and sealed forever. You are amazing and precious. Please never change. 我愛你, 寶貝! Happy twitterversary and happy tweeting. Let's make it another awesome year, shall we? :-)

Next year you'll get a cake like this! Deal? :-P

Increase of haters: What did I do?

Seriously asking: Is there anyone who seeks less trouble than me?

✰ An incident like many others

Some of you, who follow me on Facebook and Twitter, know that I wrote this small bio:

Of course, I meant that jokingly. But I'd never imagine, that this would be enough for some people to trash me. Well, apparently I was wrong. I guess a bunch of Americans were so bored (probably sitting all day at McD's), my short bio became their highlight of the day. This is what I found today on Twitter:

There were more tweets then just these, a whole group of people was "debating" me because of my Twitter bio. Ain't that ridiculous? The only props I give to them is, that they're at least not anonymous like a bunch of other haters I had on this blog recently.

✰ Because I'm seriously sick!

Since their conversation was on such a "high" level, I'm sure they must be doctors. Because they diagnosed me with yellow fever and now I'm scared I may die. I got so nervous, I looked up the dictionary to find out more. I realized I'm really sick and these symptoms would describe my current state best:

"Symptoms of my yellow fever include shivering, arthralgia (joint pain), vomiting, anemia (caused by hemolysis), hemoglobinuria, retinal damage and convulsions with cyclical occurrence of sudden coldness followed by rigor and then fever and sweating lasting four to six hours, occurring every two days." [source]

Oh no!!! I'm gonna die soon! And as that guy said: Flame on! Oh yeah, flame me! Bring a flamethrower, because that may be the only way to cure my yellow fever!!

Ok, enough of the nonsense. My question is:

✰ What did I do to deserve all this hate and flaming?

My American friend says, it's because some Americans think it's racist, if you focus on one race (other than your own) too much. She even told me something she named an "ugly truth" about multi ethnic America. Here's what she said during our conversation:

"In the U.S., there are tons of minorities living together, competing for jobs, education, etc...unlike most other diverse countries where there are only one or two other minorities, so less competition. In the U.S., most minorities unknowingly compete for white approval and and respect. Unfortunately, whites in the U.S. do favor certain races more than others. Asians are one of them. Even when you go into white racist forums where Republicans, skinheads, KKK members tend to dwell, you would often hear them praising Asians much more than they will praise any other group. Republicans have been notorious for using Asians as the "model minority", stating that blacks and Hispanics should be just like them. And also...a lot of racist white men who may hate blacks and Hispanics, don't mind marrying an Asian woman, thus leading to hatred against Asian women from women of other races. Because they tend to connect that if whites approve of their kind "mixing" with a certain race, then they must favor that. Also, there are stereotypes in the U.S. in which Asians are "intelligent", "hard-working", etc..while blacks and Hispanics always crimes, form gangs, and live the life of violence. Rap music does nothing to help that image since it encourages rape, drugs, and violence."

She made great points and that's all logical and understandable to me, but these people tend to forget that I am not American, but Slovenian. And my friend immediately added:

"Of course, they don't get you're from a different country nor do they get you have different cultural backgrounds. If they did, you would think they'll be more open-minded, right?"

✰ Note to haters

Americans, don't assume that everyone around the world sees race relations like you! I grew up in Slovenia, which is predominantly white country. I didn't grow up with Asians, African Americans and Hispanics like you. The only other race in my country are Romani people ("gypsies") and we (in Slovenia) did have some racial tensions in with them before (the last time 2006). I was always someone, who spoke out against hate towards them, because I always speak out against racism of any kind! You most likely have no idea who they are and what issue I'm talking about, but that's fine! I won't lecture you about that and you please stop lecturing me what is right or wrong about my relation to Asians (or any other race for that matter)!

If you call me a creep, I will call you a troll. I had so many of you this year, I guess trolling is the new hobby for people who are too bored to write something meaningful. Do you really have to attack others, tear them down, just to feel better? Or are you actual trolls like these below?

Oh, and btw someone really commented this crap on my blog.

✰ So many Asian girls like me, so I can't be that bad!

Who would've thought, that such a silly statement, that was meant as a joke for my many female Asian followers, would make people call me creep and debate me: A person they don't know, a person that should not matter in their lives. Kids these days, sheesh... The truth is, I do have many female Asian followers on my blog, Twitter and Facebook. And they all know me and they're cool with all that. And btw, none of them were forced to like me or follow me. I can't be that bad then, can I? Still doubting?

Ask my current Taiwanese girlfriend, if I'm a creep. Ask my Chinese ex and her family (at least 20 people), with whom I've lived for many months in Malaysia and who still miss me, if I was a creep. And ask my over hundred other Asian female followers and friends like Manju, Shirley, Andhari, Ejann, Mel, Stefanie, Van, Sabrina, Jessica, Wenny, Adeline, Selvy, Angel, Sharon, Lai San, Kit, Angele, Kym and many many more, if I was a creep. I can guarantee you 100% of them would vouch for me. So this is not about me, it's about you and your ignorance. Common decency says don't call someone names, if you don't know them.

This blog is not everything who I am. My life is not only about Asia, but I chose to blog about Asian related topics, because that's what currently interests me. I write here about whatever I want and like. My interests change through time, I wrote a lot about US politics in 2008. And 2009 was focused a lot on Asia in general, 2010 will be a lot about Taiwan. I have no idea, what I will write about in 2011. Whatever it will be, if you don't like it (or don't like me), leave! Don't waste my time, kthxbai.

✰ About White fever and real creeps

I know so many Asian female bloggers, who post pics of hot white men, do they have white fever? I know many Asian guys, who like Western women and blog about them. Do I label them as creeps? No I don't. I respect all women. I don't stereotype or exoticize any particular race and their women. I see many women as beautiful: Asian, Black, White, Latino and many others, you name it. The race doesn't make someone beautiful, but the personality. But I do prefer certain types of women, who appeal to me more than others. And that makes me no different than any other man. If I'm a creep, then every man is. The truth is: Real creeps are ignorant and judgemental people, who show no respect. I always respect women and that's why I have so many female friends.

Those, who are interested in White male/Asian female relationships, here's a good article about that and it's about those relationships, that base on true love and affection (like in my case):

Honesty about That Which Disturbs Us: Discussion of the Relationships between White Men and Asian Women Needs More Truthfulness

To Jasmin, another creep obsessed with me

Jasmin, an unknown and boring blogger, obsessed with black/white race relations, who thinks her opinion on race is the only right one, massively wasted my time with her long comments (seriously, people should get a life!), implying I was a creep and a racist and whatnot, but at same time admitting that she doesn't know me at all. Not only did she write extremely long comments, she even wrote a post about me on her garbage blog, calling me a creep and a racist and even compared me to a w*gger: She's clearly sick in the head. That post about me is the only one on her blog, that some people actually have read and commented, even proved her wrong with their comments. But she just doesn't care what others say: In her world she's right and everyone else is wrong. One of the comments by someone I don't know (it's none of my followers), really nailed it and she totally lost it (made me chuckle). I decided to publish the comment here, before she deletes it on her blog:

An Observer said...

Jasmin,
You have to be one of the most arrogant, self-centered people ever to happen upon the blogosphere.

You are literally obsessed with the topic of race. The problem is that you view things through a very narrow American lens. There is a whole world of social norms outside of your University.

It is none of your business if this person likes Asian women. It's none of your business if a white person identifies with black culture.

What I find most sad about you is that most of what you say is academic dribble. It is abundantly clear that you grew up in the suburbs, had a middle class upbringing and now think that by virtue of your skin color, you have some sort of expertise on racial relations.

Get some real life experience. Why don't go spend some real time in these inner city neighborhoods you like to pontificate about? Get to know the black, white, hispanic and asian people who live there (yes, they ALL do).

Maybe when you live more of life, you will realize that life is not all about race and racial relations. People are people. There is racism but there is also a lot of good.

As you like to say to people "IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT YOU"

What's your take on all this?

Debate respectfully. Don't get down on their level. Thanks.

What will happen to blogs in 50 years?

Did you ever think what will happen to blogs, Twitter and Facebook accounts and tons of other websites in 50 years? Can you imagine our blogs being 50 years old with an archive going from the top to the bottom of the whole sidebar? A Twitter account with possibly few hundred thousand tweets? A Facebook account with 1000 photo albums? Or do you think at one point in your life you will stop with all this?

Ok, let's imagine further. This may be a bit sad, so don't read more, if you're a pessimist. Let's imagine that things go the way they go now. All of us, who became blog friends, continue the same way and update the way we do now. Years pass and we really become like a family. One blogger gets married, one gives birth to a baby or becomes a father, another one moves to another coutry, new jobs, new betrayals, sweet vacations, family matters... but then one day it happens:

At one point one of your blog friends dies. Shock! Devastation! Sadness... No more updates in your Google reader. Days pass and the last update becomes older and older... And then you realize: This person is not among us anymore. You have never met them in real, yet you know almost everything about their life, the ups and downs, the happy and the sad moments. For me it would probably be as if I've lost a real friend, even a family member. I hope it doesn't happen any time soon, but I must say I did think about this for a while now. And I wonder what would happen to all the content a person uploaded during their long long (online) life.

Now that I made you emo and spoiled your mood, I'd like to cheer you up! ^^v

Hey! You're young, right? You have a life, right? Then, please, don't think so far. Enjoy your life every day to the fullest! Don't think about what will happen in 50 years! Another week started, many things may piss you off again... but it can't really be that bad, right? You have so many things to accomplish, so many adventures to embark on, so many wonderful moments await you in life. So all I'm asking you now is to drop a cheerful comment and then get outta here and embrace the world :P

About followers and followers

Do I have the Twitter blues? Because sometimes I wonder why some people communicate on Twitter with me, yet find it hard to follow me. Are my tweets so annoying? I've seen worse ;-)

I have this policy on Twitter: Unless it's a news source or celebrity, I would follow people who communicate with me at least sometimes. I mostly add bloggers, because it's the easiest way to connect outside the blogosphere. You can exchange links, ideas, thoughts. It's fun. :-)

I guess everybody has a group of people (twiens, friends) to chat with daily and a bunch of news sources and random people to chat with occasionally. I try to keep my number low, because I want to connect with those who I want to follow. But I'm pretty open-minded when it comes to adding people. Just talk to me, I'm nice. I would always reply back [*unless you're a spam bot] and I would follow you back, if you seem friendly and really interested in getting to know me. I delete spammers immediately, but sometimes some random [*real] people follow me, but never @me. I don't block them, but I don't follow back either.

But recently I decided to unfollow some people who silently unfollowed me and I deemed them as twiens. That's no biggie. It's a free #tworld ;-) Like in real life, people come and go, so that's nothing special. Same goes for blogging. Followers come and go... So may I: I may come, I may go. In the blogosphere I usually give more than I recieve, but now I need to focus on those who give me the same attention that I give to them (be it on Twitter or blogs). Some people could be more appreciative, I guess, but then again, I live by my standards and they live by theirs. So..., whatever. To each his own [*my favorite saying for online issues].

[*Don't we all have some complaints about twitteres and bloggers? Hehe...]

Ok, a serious question: What are your blog or Twitter policies regarding following and commenting?

Obama won the Nobel peace prize!

This was just wow! Barack Obama won the Nobel peace prize 2009! I happened to watch it live on TV, when they announced it and I pride myself as being the first who broke the news on Twitter (I'm so FOM, I know, hehe). Anyway, the initial reactions on Twitter were funny, like: "What did he do???" Duh! Imagine Sarah Palin near the Oval office? Ok, joking aside, let's see some tweets:

  • PepeEdwardson WTH! US President Obama received Nobel Peace Prize???? No year in oval office and....? Whtas Wrong Sweden!?
  • Syler_mi4 #Obama is first US President to win a nobel prize while still in office. not to mention that he hasnt completed a year in office.
  • Karmapriya U.S. President Obama has won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize for extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy.
  • karr1 Why O Why did we give #Obama a #Nobel price? He hasn't done anything special yet, has he?
  • kimbabim Obama just won the Nobel peace prize? Wow. Crazy. Didn't expect that at all. Isn't that a little early? #obama #nobelprize
  • mainewolfie CNN Breaking news - President Obama has won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize. FOR DOING WHAT??

My point of view:
First of all, who cares why? Seriously. It's not Obama's "fault" to get this award. If you have complaints, send them via Oslo. If I was American, I would be proud. I mean, it won't hurt your country, will it? It can only make your image abroad better. You were pretty much hated by all over the world during Bush's 2 terms. Plus this award may be like a reminder for Obama to keep his promises and end wars and don't start new wars and to engage in peace efforts in Israel, Darfur and elsewhere in the world. It's a good signal. But I can imagine the rightwingers freaking out and finding new ways to mock Obama.

Anyway, congratulations mr. President and congratulations USA.

Always be positive!

My life is lately a little different than it used to be. I remember writing about an up some 1 month ago. That up was short lived and an emo phase followed soon after. But today I can say that in the recent 2 weeks I'm feeling great :-) And there are several reasons for that. Mostly it's because I changed my perception on things. I know when people are emo, they take every single thing so seriously. I had my share of these days, especially on some rainy August days. And I did write some posts or comments that I really regret writing. But hey, I am just human, I make mistakes. But more important is that I learn from them and that I can apologize sincerely.
And so it happened that I slowly crawled out of my depressing period and just today realized how much more optimistic I am. Of course I didn't do that all by myself, far from that. It's because of people who came into my life unexpectedly and taught me a lot of new things, shifted my views and put back a smile on my face. You know who you are and you know you mean a lot to me. And even if it seems too good to be true, I'm living for the moment. I'm truly positive. It's so easy to fall back into emo mode, that's why I'm enjoying my happy days as much as I can. I even got some awsome new Twitter followers, among them the Singaporean celebrity blogger Dawn Yang, who not only follows me, but even tweets/DMs back sometimes and I don't have a clue how come. I've been following her blog for few months now and sending her some tweets and I guess she liked it. I'm happy that she follows me back, because I like her and I think she's an awsome girl. In addition to that, our (read Slovenian) most famous and popular blogger Had also started following me on Twitter and I have no idea why, but it feels great, too. Twitter and blogging really connect people and it's very easy. Here's how I do it. If you want to befriend people,

  • be just yourself - be honest, mean what you say
  • be positive - instead of criticising, focus on the good points
  • be loyal - if you follow someone, be there for them if they need you
  • try to give good advice - but put yourself in their shoes
  • be patient - don't rush, focus on quality not quantity

That's how I do it lately and it works. It may stop, it may change... But that's how life is: full of ups and downs, constant changes, people come and go. But some things always stay the same, some people will always be there for you even when the majority leaves you behind.

When you stand in rain and need an umbrella, they will hand it to you.

So be positive, give and recieve, don't look for trouble. If people offend you (offline or online), be above it all, don't feed the trolls, you can be so much classier than them. Ignore them, block them, delete them. If I can do it, you can do it, too. :-)

It's all in our minds.

Twitter or Facebook?

If you had to chose between Twitter or Facebook, if you would only be allowed to use one of these sites, which one would you choose?

I'd delete my Facebook instantly! Seriously, what does Facebook want to be? They are shamelessly stealing things from Twitter. I read that they plan to implement something similar to Twitter's @reply, naming it Facebook mentions. When will this stop? When Facebook came out, it had a philosophy to connect people (like ex-schoolmates, ex-colleagues, lost relatives etc.). It was innovative and interesting. And what is it today? A "Twitter-monster" with games and tests and massive picture tagging that's going slightly out of hand. And with photo albums, which is some of their strenghts and something I like. Things like the Chat feature and the Like feature are just redundant in my opinion, because I can chat on MSN or Skype and the Like feature is shallow. It's like for those people who are lazy to write a comment. I admit, I sometimes click like randomly, because I am lazy, too. So what's the point of it?

As for Twitter, I wouldn't want to miss it. It does connect people so much better. It's simple, it's very open, it's like one big community of (mostly) awsome people. I really hope they don't screw up and add tons of useless features, but rather keep it simple. I'm afraid that they will start with ads sooner or later (I still don't know how they maintain the site without them), but I hope they won't be like the out-of-control (and ugly) Google ads. Twitter is so useful to bloggers, I met so many awsome people thru Twitter and I am tweeting like half a year tops, while I'm on Facebook since 2007. I know that after a while these websites lose their initial charm, because we (the users) change, too. We're always overly excited about something new and then after a while we either move to a new hot website or we just become periodical users. Nevertheless, I still think Twitter is so influential and has changed lives of so many people. Hopefully it has enriched their lives. It's really so simple, convenient and addictive.
You gotta love it
;-)

And besides, the world's oldest Twitter user, the 105 @IvyBean104 can't be wrong, right? Ok, I have to admit, she's also using Facebook... -_- I guess Twitter and Facebook are in a love-hate relationship or something similar...

UPDATE: I came accross this touching story about how some Twitter friends helped a girl in need. That shows how awsome 'tweeple' can be :-)

So..., Twitter or Facebook, what would you chose?

About Facebook friends and their babies

*Disclaimer: I wrote this post in a cynical and sarcastic way, inspired by Seinfeld's nihilism and seasoned with my recent bitterness. Keep that in mind.

I recently added many old schoolmates on my Facebook. There were so many requesting to be my 'friend', I just couldn't continue ignoring them. So I created another account just for them. First of all, why do so many people I was never close with, want to follow my daily life, rummage thru my photos, be my 'friends'? Didn't they get the hunch by me virtually ignoring them in real life for almost a decade? I'm not gonna update anything on my second account but just upload photos from my travels and let them wonder. Yes, that's how I roll, hehe. I still have my old (main) account where I only add people who I feel comfortable with. And guess what, most of them are from all over the world. Yes, in this phase of my life, I only befriend like-minded people and not those who just happen to live in the same town like me. And some people from here, who happen to be my friends, don't use Facebook (weird). But thanks to the internet, I can have 2 identities and nobody can do anything about it. Yes, I am very selective.

Well, what actually made me write this post, was the fact that so many of my old schoolmates have babies and they post pics of them on Facebook. I mean, why would they do this? Why? First of all, I would never put a photo of my (future) baby online. I mean, what will these 'babies' say in 20 years? Do we have to document someone's life online since their birth? What happened to the old classic phot album? They are humans and not objects and since they're incapable to tell wheather they want to be exposed online or not, I would never put their photos online. Secondly, every baby looks the same. So what's the point to let others see a baby? Can't you just write 'I have a baby, it's healthy and it looks like any other baby' on your wall and get on with your life? Wouldn't that be enough?

I mean, where is the time when people, if they really wanted to see your baby, came to your home? Is this so 20th century? [*Am I too sentimental?]

I mean something like that on the clip below, from Seinfeld:

I feel like some people post the pics of their babies like trophies, like Look at me, I am not yet 30 and I have a baby! I accomplished something! I am mainstream. Are you? Well, I am not. I could be easily, but since I was always a skilled master of *cough... I mean, I was always careful, so I just happen not to be. Which can be an accomplishment far bigger than the opposite. Then again, what is mainstream these days anyway? Men in twenties 'having babies' seem to become rare recently. So maybe I am mainstream.

I really don't know... maybe I'm bitter now, but once I have a baby myself, I will be like them: An overly excited parent-freshman, who will post hunderds of photos of his newborn and prouldy tweet: My baby made his first poop. #proudparent #baby #random and then soon after post another tweet: Please follow @littleMKL #FF. Hehe, who knows. We'll see in few years ;-)

Now, what do you think? Baby photos online, pro or contra and why?
Not being a parent in the twenties,
pro or contra and why?

Michael Jackson dead! Unbelievable.

One of the best artists of all times, Michael Jackson, died! Unbelievable and shocking news. I was watching CNN, when I heard he's been sent to hospital. Then they announced he was in a coma. And suddenly I see on Twitter: Michael Jackson RIP on top of Trending Topics. I complained, because CNN said he's not dead. Then they announced it, too: King of pop is dead. Wow... Twitter was constantly over capacity, Wikipedia has problems. People flock in masses to that hospital in L.A. I mean, it all came so out of the blue! What a year. People die like it's Judgement day or something.
Well, he was King of pop! I've been very young, when Thriller came out, but throughout the eighties, they played it over and over. But I remember when Bad came out. I was 8 years old, but that Bad video was unbelievable. The way he danced and dressed up was so unique, you just couldn't be not impressed. And then the moonwalking. Tell me someone who did not try to moonwalk? He was just so unique, he could never be copied or surpassed by any other pop artist. Thriller will always remain the best selling album of all times, especially because people are buying albums less and less. My favourite Michael Jackson songs are: Billie Jean, Beat It, Bad, Smooth Criminal, We Are The World, Wanna Be Startin' Something, Man In The Mirror, Black Or White, Who Is It, Jam, Remember The Time, Say Say Say... OMG, it's like every of his 3 top albums (Thriller, Bad and Dangerous) is like all songs were hits! Sadly his downturn started after Dangerous. History was not bad, had many hits, but I felt it's just not as good as the stuff before. I really lost my words now... He was really such a great artist since his childhood. A genious. And all people can be proud of him, not only blacks, who are probably particularly proud.

Thank you, Michael Jackson, you will remain King of Pop forever.

Rest in peace.

Computer geeks

How long does it take you to be sick of computer geeks and their neverending ramblings about computers and the new iPhone? I guess everytime there's a launch of some new version of a phone, a laptop or some other gadget, geeks freak out and can't stop blogging, tweeting and commenting about their object of desire and about all kinds of things they found out or look forward to enjoy. They're like in some kind of phantasy world I don't understand. That's why I seldom take part in these discussions. Now they all ramble about how great the new iPhone is, in few months they will complain how something sucks about it.
Ok, people. Enjoy your gadgets. But that's not and can't be the meaning of life, dear computer geeks. Ask youreslves if it's really necessary to have a certain gadget or is it a waste of money, because it's only a camouflage for your boring lives? I'm not saying all of you computer geeks have a pathetic life, but the I.T. industry certainly thrives on you. That's why they wrap up the same shit and sell it to you as something new by adding an additional feature or a resolution better by few megapixels and you always fall for it. And don't think if the price is higher, that the product is any better. They always fool you and you always fall in their trap. You always want more features, more capacity, more memory, better design... why? When will you stop wanting more? It seems as you'll never be happy with what you have and that doesn't only apply to gadgets, it applies to real life things like lovers, friends, family, job... Temperance is the key to everything. I like gadgets, too. But I keep my enthusiasm limited to some healthy boundaries. So could you.

Lisa Ling is about to go public!

A moment ago I read some of Lisa Ling's (凌志慧 ) tweets that said the following (regarding her sister's trial in North Korea):

Our families have decided to go public. The girls' trial starts June 4, we must get the message of diplomacy out. We'll start with the Today Show Mon morning, Larry King, Nightline Mon night. Anderson Cooper during the week as the trial begins. Please help us spread the message.

Thank you

Finally. I respect the family to decide what's best to do in this situation. But eventually the media has to start talking about this sad case. Quiet diplomacy is good, but recent North Korean behavior prooves it didn't work. And poor Laura Ling and Euna Lee will be used for propaganda by the North Koreans rather than some leverage for the negotiations. Seems like they're going nuts. They're challenging the world's patience and threatening the world peace and it looks like they're preparing themselves for war. Gates' comments made me a little worried when he said it was not a crisis and no additional troups would be deployed. I hope he lied. I hope that's tactics and behind the scenes USA, Japan and South Korea have a good plan to take down the evil Kim Jong-il down, if he decides to start a war. In I really hope it won't be necessary, because millions could die and we could forget the case of Laura and Euna. Who knows what these nut-cases in North Korea are willing to do to show how ruthless they are.

Why, Twitter?

Lately I get so many stupid followers on my Twitter account. I mean, who are these stupid people? And what's more important, who are their followers? Here's one that added me today and claims to be Oreo the dog. He tweets as if he actually was a dog. I was like - get a life, moron! I'm using Twitter to connect with friends from all over the world, to share ideas, link my blog posts and other online stuff. But lately I keep getting weird followers. I block them, yet they add me again with a different name, but same profile photo. How dumb is that? And again, why? Why would you do that? I don't f*ing care about your marketing or your diet programme or your sex website, so STFU and stay away from me. Gosh, I feel so good now that I let it out :)

Tweet of the day

Lai San is my tweet-buddy and she's really funny. She loves food and she tweets about it many times a day and her tweets really make me smile and relax. She's passionate about food and cooking. And today, when I saw her tweet (screencap below), I really had to laugh. This is my tweet of the day. It's a short tweet-poem, so charming, I wanna share it with you here. Enjoy! Thank you, Lai San :)

My tweet was on Larry King

,Two days ago, Larry King hosted Joy Behar, my favorite host of The View. I can watch The View only on You-Tube and I do that sometimes. I'm following Larry King on Twitter and I saw his message asking for thoughts on Joy Behar. So, just for fun, I wrote something and replied back very fast. And they showed my tweet on Larry King! You can see it on the screencap below. Thanks to twitterer TheNiceLife, who saw my Twitter-name on Larry King and sent me a tweet with the link to his blog, where I checked out the video with the Joy Behar interview. So, now I'm buddies with Jessica Alba and a serious pundit on CNN :P Just kidding.

Jesus Christ and Hitler on Twitter!

Have you seen some people on Twitter who claim to be 'Jesus Christ' or 'God'? Well, sure, there will always be some crazy people who would do stuff like that... but more scary are the followers. Can you imagine a guy who calls himself 'God' has now over 16.000 followers? Who are these people? I'm sure at least one of them thinks that 'Good tweets from heaven'. That's crazy. 'Jesus Christ' has only 4900 followers.
Then there's so many Hitlers. You just write Hitler under 'find people' and you get all kinds of crazy Hitlers. Should Twitter do something about that? It's open for debate. What will happen to Twitter next? Unfortunately all these things get regulated and restricted sooner or later, because money starts playing a huge role. They start advertizing, adding new gadgets - and then it gets boring. It loses the simplicity and charme it had in the beginning. Twitter, where are you going?

I tweet!

Finally I created an account on Twitter... But so far people here don't use it so much, so I don't have any friends to follow... Hopefully that'll change soon. Let's see if Twitter is fun.
